BIOGRAPHY

F. Somogyi has a diverse background, including extensive experience in
management consulting, marketing and PR, product marketing and
management, business management, IT management, and high-technology
business startups.
Since 1997, he served in the roles of IT Manager and CIO at a number of
manufacturing companies, implementing enterprise software, upgrading and
configuring servers, and supporting users. Since 2000, he has also
provided business advisory services to SMB and collaborated on a number
of business startup ventures.
Between 1988 and 1996, he founded and was president of two international
high-technology companies. His companies, based in the US, worked with
engineers in Hungary, to design, manufacture and market high-speed disk
controllers and storage systems for servers and network attached optical
media storage devices.
He worked with the Hungarian companies Müszertechnika
and then Videoton, as well as with a number of other technology and
manufacturing companies in Hungary, including Semilab and Recognita.
Prior to these endeavors, he was director of marketing for Chi
Corporation, a Case Western Reserve University spinoff company that
manufactured terminal emulation products and communications processors
primary for government and military applications.
From 1977 to 1985, he was with Ernst & Young, where he was a senior
management consultant and IT auditor prior to becoming the firm’s
national practice director for both strategic planning services and
contingency/disaster recovery planning services. He
worked
with many large, global financial and manufacturing organizations in
implementing strategic business plans and system solutions.
Since 1995, he has edited the annual Chronicles of the Hungarian
Congress, a book of articles on various topics primarily in history,
political science and culture. He serves as the Secretary-General of the
Árpád Academy of Hungarian scientists, writers and artists, which is
part of the Cleveland-based worldwide Hungarian Association. He is a
published author of numerous articles on topics in Hungarian history as
well as co-author of “Faith & Faith: A Short Cultural History of
Hungary.”
He is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, with an M.S. in Management Information Systems and a B.S. in Computer Engineering (with minors in Journalism and History of Science & Technology). . |
